Gerald Resch, born in Linz in 1975, studied composition in Vienna (Michael
Jarrell), as well as musicology (University of Vienna). While studying for
one year on a scholarship in Cologne with York Höller, he was stimulated
to focus his musical work on the concept of organic sound figures (Klanggestalten).
Study visits of several months in Berlin, Paris and Rome fostered a poetics
that wants to be open for diverse extra-musical influences (painting in «
Zerrissene Zeit », weaving in « Schnittstellen », geology
in « Durchlässige Schichten »).
Recently, Gerald Resch has been increasingly interested in the inner energetics
of musical processes.
His works have been perfomed in Vienna (a. o. Konzerthaus, Musikverein), Salzburg
(a. o. Salzburger Festspiele), Berlin (Konzerthaus), Basel, Prague, Bratislava,
Luxemburg, Amsterdam, Den Haag, New York and Baltimore.
