Our successful concert series cross//roads continues in 2003 with the confrontation
of culturally differing musical concepts, but draws its attention further
to the fields in-between composition and improvisation or composition and
traditional Asian music. The concerts focus on distinguished soloists and
ensembles from the EastAsian cultures: China Found Music Workshop Taipei,
the Chinese soloists Wu Wei (Sheng) and Xu Fengxia (Zheng) as well as Huang
Lung-Yi (Sheng) from Taiwan.
They meet with Western musicians and composers, explore the borders between
traditional music practices, improvisational concepts and composition and
thus also establish connections between local and global aspects of intercultural
encounter.
